The Mummy Returns

"The Mummy" films don't really do it for me. This one had good epecial effects, but it was a blatent "Raiders of the Lost Ark" ripoff, and Frazier is pretty friggin annoying in these films (although he's good in others, such as "Bedazzled"). Worth a look but not worth owning.

For All History and Mummy lovers!!

Strengths: Plot, suspense

The characters in this movie did a great job expressing their emotions. It was a fun and intense movie. This movie may scare younger children, so be careful. I've watched it about 3 times and still I'm interested.

The Mummy Returns

I liked most of it. Imhotep was always my favorite villian and I was disappointed that he was made more wimpy near the end of the movie. And making Anck-su-namun a coward and leave her love to die was a freaking lame lame choice. Anck-su-namun killed her self in the last movie to save Imhotep with out ANY hesitation so why was she such a wuss in this one. Their love deserved so much more respect. And the Scorpian King's CG thing looked so fake it was laugh-able how can all the other effects awesome and the most important one look so crappy. Alex was an annoying character he was basically a Scrappy Doo of The Mummy Returns but he wasn't the biggest flaw. It could have so much better I would have given it 4 or 5 if they had played Anck-su-namun and Imhotep's relationship straight but they had to screw it up like they usually do.

The Mummy Returns

I never cared for this movie. I think it has nice effects but I feel it was way over the top. Brendan Fraser did an okay job but will not knock you out of your socks. I was actually pleasently surprised about Dwayne Johnson's (The Rock) performance. He did pretty good. But I just did not care for this movie at all.

The Mummy Returns

"The Mummy" is a film. Plenty of decent action scenes and comedic relief at appropriate points. Solid performances by all parties involved. Generally thrilling and entertaining, fully maintaining the attention of the viewer from beginning to end.

The Mummy Returns

Not as good as the first one, but still scary at times. Kept me one the edge of my seat till the end of it (or in the arms of my boyfriend) either one works:) Brenden and Rachel did a good job. I don't see how the Scorpian King got into it, but hey, whatever works.

The Mummy Returns

This movie wasn't as good as the original. Imhotep was more of a baby sitter than a real villian. The CG scorpion king at the end also knocked it down a couple of stars. The invincible army of Anubis was suprisingly weak and easily defeated.

The Mummy Returns

I really loved this movie. Much better than the first, which I enjoyed as well. I did not think I would like either movie since mummy movies are not my cup of tea but I was pleasently surprised. Although the acting was not the best I do think the characters were developed very well over the course of both movies and were VERY endearing. Fraser as Rick is hilarious. His no nonsense gungho portrayal was possibly the highlight of both movies. Each character was so unique. Most were fully realized on screen. I personally found the dialogue humorous and well thought out. The humor is subtle at times but there are things children won't see that adults pick up on. One of the few movies that avoids ANY boring moments. It is a blast from start to finish. Not scary though so this movie is definitely better categorized as "action/adventure". One of the best family movies made in the past 30+ years. A collectors item in my opinion.

The Mummy Returns

I loved the first movie, but this movie . . . oh, man, they could have done so much with this, but it seems they chose not to! In the first movie, they handled the CG and special effects beautifully, but in this one, it seemed they slacked off quite a bit (not that I can do better, but that Scorpion at the end was mind-numbingly HORRIBLE!). And the zepplin . . . oh, that was a bad idea. And, since sais originate from the 1600's in Okinawa as a farming tool, it's kind of hard to accept that ancient Egypt possessed these things as weapons back then! Doing the face-in-the-sand thing in the first movie was kinda cool. Doing the face-in-the-water thing in this one was repetative. And, for the Rock fans--he's only in it for all of maybe two minutes, one of which is spent in a horrible CG replication of him. You'd be better off seeing "Scorpion King" if you want to see him. Altogether, if you want to watch it, by all means do so . . . just know that you've been warned!

The Mummy Returns

I liked the movie, but was disappointed with the ending. I think that with the whole storyline based on this love affair between the mummy and that girl, they really wimped out in the end. They should have died together, with her trying to save him. People are not all good or all bad, and their love deserved more respect, as it was the driving force for Imhotep in both movies. Aside from the ending, and the outrageously unrealistic flying boat thing, it was entertaining. I liked the first one much better, though.

The Mummy Returns

I didn't have a lot of expectations for this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised. The production values were very impressive. About the only complaint was that lame scorpion at the end with the Rock's face computer-generated onto it.

The Mummy Returns

This movie is much worse than its prequel which wasn't that great. The special effects are generally bad. (Rule of thumb: if you watch the movie and you can immediately see that the graphics were pasted on the screen, and are not real elements, the effects are bad) Additionally, the makers of the movie relied far too much on these poor special effects. As with the first movie, no time is taken out for character development, but the nonstop action ideal of this movie leaves no time for plot development. All plot development in this film is saved for a few labored sentences stated by some of the characters at inoppurtune moments. The fight sequences were also unbelievable, and the existence of jet engines or rocket engines in 1933 is so far fetched I lost interest in the movie, not to mention the ancient Egyptians' use of springs. For Rock fans, he is on screen for approximately two or three minutes, and has no lines in English.

The first one wasn't so good, so why did they make a 2nd one? This one is a bit better, but isn't any Godfather.

The Mummy Returns

Can you have too many special effects? This movie proves you can. And some of the effects are the worst you'll see in a modern, big-budget movie. The final fight scene looks awful. Absolutely no plot.

Very accurate! I loved it, but it did not have nearly enough mummies, so I;m giving this movie a 4 instead of a 5.

Well, I saw all of it except the last 15 minutes of it because they called us out because a tornado was heading our way. Needless to say, what I saw of it, it was very good. The graphics are incredible.

The Mummy Returns

This is a really good movie. I like Egypt a lot and know a lot about it and for the most part the Egyptian things in the movie are accurate. This movie is just as good as the first one, if not better. This is one of those movies that you have to see the first one to understand, so don't say that you won't see it just because you didn't see the first one. I think a thing they added very well was the parts of wars with the huge numbers represented very well. So I'd say go see it. For people that love Egypt like me it's a 5, for people that love action movies it's a 4, and for people that don't it's still probably a 3 and worth seeing.

Great enterainment, great effects. Go with an empty mind and you will enjoy it. I already forgot the story line. I gotta admit I kept wondering 'how do they do that'?

The Mummy Returns

Hehe. I hate to admit it, but this was a cute movie. Cute as hell. I enjoyed myself the entire time. This is the definition of a summer movie. (Poo acting, unfocused and not to important plot, had to be a sequel, token dialouge, big budget special effect, some weird little kid, etc.) Anyway, I laughed my ass off the entire time. Every character is so damn cute and fun to watch it makes the movie almost (notice the almost) irresistable. I hated the first Mummy movie, but this movie is ten times what the original Mummy was. To get a grasp on this movie you must see the crappy original. The Rock's terrible acting is fun to laugh at as well as his computer animated Scorpion King self. You will leave the theater happy. Very cute summer fluff.GO SEE IT WITH YOUR PALS.
