Great spy thriller. Agree Matt Damon was too young for the role but he does a fine job anyway. Great scenery a big plus. Plenty of action.

This version of the movie wasn't remotely true to the book. The only similarity was the beginning ocean sequence, Treadstone and the fact he was in Switzerland. Other than that it was a total rewrite. The first "Bourne Identity" with Richard Chamberlain, on the other hand, was dead on in it's portrayal of JB and the plot. Although I think Damon did a better than adequate job, I still believe he was the wrong actor for the role.

I read the book years ago and enjoyed it. When the movie came out with Matt Damon as the lead, I was skepitcal. I just did not think he was right for the role. I was wrong, He did an excellent job. The movie was fairly true to the book and it was good.

Very fast-paced and intelligent. Have not read Ludlum's series but I will now.

This was by far the BEST movie with Matt Damon I have ever seen! I have watched it over 3 dozen times! I hardly ever watch a movie more than twice.. But, Matt Damon, Franka Potente, Chris Cooper, Brian Cox, and Doug Liman (Best Action Director, and just a Darn Great Director) made a convincing spy thriller from Robert Ludlums book's! Bourne Supremacy was good too! But it lack Doug Liman! I hope the story goes on to make a few more movies out of the books! Matt, Chris, Franka, Brian and especially Doug Liman rocks for a movie well made in this Genre! Make more like it with Doug Liman at the helm, SOON!

Strengths: Great Action Film

I really enjoyed this movie. Damon's character is filled with so many mysteries from his past, it keeps you guessing who he really is. With all the different passports, i.d.'s, and such, kept me guessing for awhile. Great story, action, special effects, everything. I personally think it's better than the second one. The best part about it is, which I found out in the second movie was that the guy was born in Nixa, Missouri, my hometown.

i read the book when i was younger so i wasnt in a hurry to see the movie. they never seem to do the book justice. i did see the movie just recently and it was pretty good and i enjoyed matt damons performance

Strengths: Action packed.

Weakness: None.

This movie is action pack and very cool. I suggest it for action lovers. The story is cool and the actors play well. I am now thinking about reading the book.

Secret agent with memory loss. Set up on a mission. Tries to discover who he is and why he was set up. No originality. Damon was adequate in his role but that does not make up for a redone script and characters that were not engaging. Wesley Snipes alone has done at least 2 films along similar lines that were better. Not a waste fo money but I would recommend Snipes movies over this one.

'Not a Matt Damon fan. Went to see it only because my g/f wanted... Finally, I couldn't stand it. I walked out and left said g/f there to get her ya-ya's. Damon looks more like a secret agent intern.

great movie. Very, very solid throughout, with good action sequences, acting, etc. How in the hell can this be rated worse than Die another day and Face/Off?!?

The marketing for this movie was great it made it look action packed, just one problem it's not. Matt Dameon still looks like he should be in high school and is not convincing as the confused secret weapon. The supporting cast is ok but the plot is thin. Its on Starz all the time right now so if you have a chance take a look and be happy you did not spend the $8 +!

I was pleasantly surprised with this movie, I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. It got me interested in reading the book, and it's always nice to see Franka Potente. She shines in every performance I've seen.

Matt Damon was surprisingly good as an action-type hero! I would never have expected it from his previous roles. Excellent combat scenes, involved storyline, very fun to watch.

It was not a bad movie, but could have been done better. Matt Damon did a good job, but the plot seemed to move along too quickly. A good movie, but disappointing because of how great I thought it would be.

Somehow this movie includes something for everyone -- the action, the romance, the mystery, etc. -- and pulls it off pretty decently. The high point would have to be the car chase scene, which makes the much-revered car chase scene from "Ronin" seem tame.

Typical Robert Ludlum. You like that kind of action movie - it's greta entertainmnent. You don't - then stay away from it. You find Matt Damon almost dead floating in the sea. He doesn't know who or why he is. By the end of the movie, he'll find out and so will you. Go see it.

I would agree with Trinityk that Matt Damon did a great job in the action-hero role, and Franka Potente was just as good in an english speaking role as she was speaking German in Run Lola Run. The story is cool - Matt Damon is found floating in the Mediterranean Sea with a gun shot wound, some high tech gear, and absolutely no memory of who he is. The rest of the movie deals with Damon's quest to figure out who he is, why he has so many odd skills, and why there are people trying to kill him. In addition to good acting and a good storyline, the movie is pretty well made.... I recommend it.

Matt Damon pulled off the action-hero role quite nicely. It almost made me forget completely about his turn as the creepy psycho in "Talented Mr. Ripley". Overall, Bourne Identity was very entertaining, had some cool action and hand-to-hand combat sequences and also had a great car chase scene. The romance was a little goofy but I guess they had to throw that in to appeal to everyone. I would like to see more of Matt Damon in action - type roles. He's a great actor, and it's fun to watch him use his body as well as his brains.
